Once the extent of the devastation caused by February’s earthquakes in Turkey and Syria became clear, the club resolved to donate two ShelterBox Disaster Relief Kits using £1,200 of our existing funds. We then set about fundraising in the local area to see if we could do more to help.
Our activities included:
- A collection in Mablethorpe Co-op
- A collection in Mablethorpe Tesco
- Ad-hoc collections in The Half Moon Hotel Alford, at Alford Bridge Club, and The Blacksmith’s Arms at Skendleby (thanks to Rotarian Geoff Allen).
- Collection boxes in the Spar Shops and Post Offices at Bilsby, Partney and Ulceby Cross (thanks to Rotarian Gill Marsh).
We’d like to thank all the businesses who supported our efforts and everyone who donated. We are delighted to say a further £1,200 was raised, allowing us to pay for two more ShelterBoxes. A great effort from the Alford and Mablethorpe area.
