Talk from The Coastal Community Challenge

The Coastal Community Challenge
The Coastal Community Challenge

Thanks go this evening to John Gregory, Kim Parrinder and Linda Diggle from the Coastal Community Challenge (CCC) who came to talk to us about some of the projects they have commissioned, or helped to fund, with the £1M of Big Lottery money that was awarded to the Mablethorpe, Sutton and Trusthorpe area.

Over the last four years the CCC has awarded money to groups and projects involved in their target areas:

  • Sports and Leisure
  • Arts and Heritage
  • The Environment
  • Crime Prevention / Reduction
  • Community Cohesion
  • Employment / Skills
  • Preventing / Reducing Poverty
  • Health

The number of projects supported is overwhelming and the group did well to fit so many of them into a short presentation. You can find the full list on the Coastal Community Challenge Website but suffice to say they have supported numerous events, groups, clubs, organisations and even invested in several of our community buildings.

Often guest speakers receive a donation from our club but tonight the CCC presented us with a cheque for £500 towards the staging of the Sutton on Sea Christmas Fayre which will take place on Friday the 8th of December.
Note also that the CCC is organising Mablethorpe’s Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday the 9th December where our volunteers will also be supporting the event and raising money with the Rotary Barbecue.

The CCC fund still holds over £800,000 so if you have a project that could benefit be sure to visit their website.
