This week the Club was visited by Charlotte (Lottie) Elson who came to tell us about the Lincolnshire Coast Girls Club which she set up a little over a year ago. Its tagline is “Meeting new friends, having wholesome fun and making life in Lincolnshire a little less lonely for young women”.
On leaving university Charlotte decided she would like to return to Lincolnshire to enjoy the relaxed, rural lifestyle and be close to her family. She soon found however that the friends she had grown up with had largely moved away as so many younger, particularly university educated, people do.
Charlotte recognised her situation was not unique, and formed the Club which now meets once a month rotating between Mablethorpe, Alford and Louth. The first meeting was a flower arranging activity attended by 40 women. So far 244 individuals have attended meetings in total, and many new friendships have been formed. Wherever possible the Club supports small local businesses, and takes part in local events and activities.

It was a real honour for the Club that Charlotte, the Granddaughter of one of our founder members the late John Conyers, choose to come to us to try out her presentation knowing she would get a warm reception.
