The Rotary Club of Alford and Mablethorpe supports The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) and was particularly pleased this year to have nominated two children from the Mablethorpe site of Monks’ Dyke Tennyson College which is closing this summer.
RYLA is a four day course supporting the leadership development of 14 to 18 year olds which, for our area, takes place at The Rotary Centre in Castleton, Derbyshire. The course involves a series of activities designed to help attendees learn new skills, recognise skills in others, make effective decisions, build confidence, work as part of a team and understand the problems of leadership.
As the sponsoring club we were not only tasked with nominating the attendees but also funding their course and transporting them there and back.
