The Rotary “Come and Sing Carols” events means exactly what it says. It is a glorious evening of carol singing by the audience along to the wonderful Alford Silver Band. The evening is all about audience participation with just enough guest items to rest the voice.
This years concert is at The Dunes Complex on the foreshore at Mablethorpe with free parking in Jackson’s Car Park opposite The Dunes on Quebec Road. The concert starts promptly at 7pm on Monday 18 December but early arrivals will be able to listen to the band playing carols from 6-45pm.
Our guests this year are Mablethorpe Primary Academy Choir in the first half of the programme and the children will no doubt be hoping that Father Christmas will arrive just before the interval. In fact they will keep on singing “Jingle Bells” until he does make an appearance.
In the second half we welcome back the Sutton on Sea W.I. choir led by Ann Wilford and they are performing jointly with newcomers, the Somercotes Singers.
At the end of the concert, around 9-15pm, Rotarians will take a “blanket collection” for Rotary projects in the Mablethorpe and Alford area. The appreciative audience have always been very generous.
