The historic Alford Manor House is the site for a new community defibrillator.
Sandie Spenceley of Alford Civic Trust who run the manor house headed up the fund raising efforts with help from Alford Town Council, Probus, Alford Craft Market and Rotary.
The Rotary Club of Alford and Mablethorpe gave a substantial donation toward the cost of the defibrillator which is a good example of how the funds we raise are used to benefit the local community.
If someone calls 999 having discovered a person not breathing or breathing erratically, the operator will direct them to the defibrillator and provide them the code required to open the box. The defibrillator then provides instructions for its safe use. Whilst we hope it will never be required we know the chances are it will and this device has the potential to save many lives. We are aware of one public defibrillator installed locally that had to be used the very next day.
