The club’s Christmas Party was held at The Seacroft Bar this year, where we enjoyed excellent food, hospitality and entertainment. Two of our members also received an early Christmas present in the form of a Paul Harris Fellowship Award.
Dr David W Ferguson was awarded his Paul Harris for many years of service to this Club and Rotary International. David was a founder member of our Club back in 1978, President in 1990-91, and has been a valued member of working committees for many years.
The Rev’d Stephen Holdaway has been a committed Rotarian in three different clubs, initially devoting over 20 years as a member and also President of the Rotary Club of Louth. Following his retirement from St. James’ Church in Louth, he moved to Horncastle and joined the Rotary Club there and was appointed Assistant District Governor. When the Horncastle Club closed four years ago, Stephen joined us and has given sterling service as Club Secretary.
Surprised by Stephen’s award, his wife asked if he knew he would be receiving it, “I had to order it!” came the reply.
It just goes to show – not much happens in a club without the secretary’s involvement!
