Last week the club was visited by Nikki Rhodes, Charity Manager at Cash for Kids, a UK wide organisation supporting 0-18 year olds disadvantaged by poverty, illness, neglect or special needs.
Cash for Kids is part of Bauer Media Group (magazines and radio stations including Lincs FM) who provide the charity with free office space, admin, HR and IT equipment, and cover expenses allowing 80p in every pound donated to benefit the children supported. It employees around 35 people across the UK, just two in Nikki’s patch, which runs from Filey to Grantham and encompasses around 100,000 children living in relative poverty.
Cash for Kids’ biggest annual project is Mission Christmas, when they distribute over 45 thousand donated presents to around 10 thousand children in our area who would otherwise not receive a gift.
Children in need are identified by social workers, medical staff, schools and other charities with great care being taken that the need is genuine. The assistance is targeted to ensure its effectiveness, particularly when the parents cannot be trusted to act in their child’s best interests.
Despite being a UK wide charity, donations made within our area are always used here, so we can be sure our efforts support local children. Following Nikki’s visit, the club was pleased to make a donation of £250.
