News: 2018 Christmas Carol Concert

Published

The Rotary Carol Concert lived up to its reputation as the event for the audience to sing its socks off! We sang fifteen carols and Christmas songs with gusto and enthusiasm.

Our first guests were from Huttoft Primary School. In their second appearance they did themselves and their school proud. After the interval, our first time guests, the Music Makers played their handbells beautifully. They were followed by our combined ladies choir who even allowed Rotarian Chris Lilley to sing “O Holy Night” with the choir acting as his backing group! We had further guest singers in the carol, “We three kings” with Father Christmas, the Town Crier and a member of the band each performing a verse. The event had been opened by our new Town Crier whilst Father and Mrs Christmas closed the first half with presents for all the children.

The aim of the concert is to provide an affordable, fun, seasonal event for the community but we also raise funds for Rotary Charities via the ticket sales and blanket collection. This year we are delighted to have raised £750. Thank you to all those who bought tickets and donated.

Thanks to Rotarian Paddy Prince and his staff at the Dunes and well done to Rotarian Chris Lilley for organising another successful event and to all those who helped on the night.
