The Club’s 10th annual Carol Concert was held at The Dunes in Mablethorpe to raise money for Rotary causes and provide the community with some Christmas Cheer!
Despite what must surely be the coldest December in living memory, we had a good turnout to sing along with this year’s guest performers, The Coastal Community Chorus and Sutton on Sea Primary School Choir.
The evening wouldn’t be the same without the Alford Sliver Band, who performed brilliantly this year, even by their own high standards. The three “volunteer” soloists may have also risen the bar, so congratulations to our President John Clarke, the Mayor of Mablethorpe and Sutton Stephen Holland, and our wonderful Town Crier Dave Summers.
As ever, the biggest guest of the night was Santa and Mrs Claus, who brought presents for the children.
Finally, Rotarian Nigel Collins reminded us all how vital Rotary’s work is and how the money raised by the concert would be spent. Ticket sales have raised around £400 and our guests generously donated a further £122 in our ‘blanket collection’ as they left.
If you have never attended one of our concerts before, we would love to see you in 2023. It’s a very light-hearted event with lots of fun, a chance to sing along and enjoy a turkey bap in the interval or even an adult refreshment from the bar!
