Jim and Sue Morton first visited the club in February 2022 when Jim’s fundraising walk of the UK coastline brought them to the area. Seventeen months later, we were delighted to welcome them back and hear about the experience.
By age 7 Jim had already decided he wanted to be an adventurer. He would study a map book to plan his walk around the UK coastline. But life gets in the way and he had to wait until he retired in 2020 to realise his big ambition, funded by downsizing the family home.
The expedition was also undertaken to raise money for the Gurkhas. When we first met Jim, he had raised around £13k, now it’s over £40k, and he’s determined to reach his target of £50k.
Jim regaled us with stories of rescuing sheep, being washed out to sea, bumping into celebs, having a ‘chat’ with some armed police, and an unplanned trip in a helicopter.
