Handover 2016

Every Rotary club has a President who presides over meetings, appoints committee chairs and works with district representatives. Presidents serve for one year and so last night Dianne Baxter (pictured left) took over from Gill Marsh (picture right) as President of The Rotary Club of Alford and Mablethorpe and received the badges of her new office.

The incoming President Elect and Vice President (who will become President in 1 and, 2 years time) are also normally given their appropriate badges of office at the Handover Meeting. In our club the outgoing President also awards The President’s Plate, a silver salver donated to the Club by ex District Governor and Club President Len Taylor, to be held by the nominee for the next 12 months in recognition of excellent service to the Club – this year’s recipient was Chris Drew who is a relatively recent member currently doing an excellent job in Chairing our membership Committee amongst other tasks.

Gill gave a short address to the Club thanking all the members for their support and in particular the Chairs of her committees who helped make her year as President so enjoyable and successful. This was followed by a short speech from our new President Dianne anticipating a further successful year for the Club.
