A ShelterBox is a plastic box containing not just a family sized tent, but many of the items required to sustain life after a disaster.
Different areas or events require different kits, but a box may contain items like solar lights, tools, cooking sets, mosquito nets or water purification equipment. At all times, a massive stock of ShelterBoxes are ready to be delivered in response to devastated communities all around the world.
The Rotary Club of Alford and Mablethorpe has been fundraising for ShelterBox since 2004 and as of March 2023 had donated over forty-seven thousand pounds. That’s enough for 80 ShelterBoxes at the current price (£590).

ShelterBox at the 2011 Festival of Bathing Beauties
The Mablethorpe, Sutton on Sea and Sandilands 5th Bathing Beauties Festival ran from 16-18 September 2011. In addition to the beach hut competition it has music (day & evening), performances, crafts, a continental market and much more.
We had a Shelterbox to display at Mablethorpe beach on Saturday 17 September. Fortunately, the expected winds didn’t come so we were able to get the Shelterbox erected and staked down on the beach by the lifeboat station. Persuading the visitors to come down from the promenade to see the Shelterbox was a bit harder.
