Top Club in Our District For Giving to The Rotary Charity

Foundation Donations Award 2018

Our club has recently been awarded No1 club in our district for giving to the Rotary Foundation (Rotary’s charity) Speaking after receiving the award Club President Nigel Collins said ‘This is an amazing achievement for a club that is by no means the largest or situated within a wealthy area of our district.

It shows the generous community support and hard work of our club members throughout the year and the long standing commitment and passion within our club for the Rotary Foundation.’

The Foundation has 6 areas of focus, Peace & conflict resolution – Prevention and treatment of disease – Water sanitation – Maternal and child health – Basic education and literacy – Economic and community development.

The largest project undertaken by the Foundation is the ‘End Polio Now’ campaign which along with partners has seen more than a 99% reduction in polio cases worldwide.

The Rotary Foundation allows 50% of money raised to be used locally on ‘district grants’. This year our club has undertaken district grants to provide dining room equipment to a school in Sdetland India which serves children from a poor background. We also provided T shirts for 100 young people who attended the Rotary International Peace Conference in Coventry.
