This week we held our handover meeting which signifies the start of the new Rotary year with the incoming president and club officers taking up their new positions.
The outgoing president, John Clarke, presented the president’s chain to Kath Hayes, who presented the President Elect’s regalia to Judi Rastall, who in turn presented the President Nominee regalia to John Clarke. The president’s plate will also be presented to Gill Marsh just as soon as it can be located!
As our new president, Kath Hayes was also entrusted with some of the club’s items to keep safe, including a bust of Rotary founder Paul Harris (affectionately known as the ‘door stop’) and a silver quaich gifted to us by our friends at the Alford & District Rotary Club in Scotland.
Chris Drew was awarded a Paul Harris which, I am uniquely qualified to report, he highly appreciates.
After the disruption of the lock-downs, John’s focus over the last year was to get the members attending regularly and enjoying each others company via trips to the theatre and circus etc.. This approach has successfully set the club up for Kath’s year, when attention will turn to recruitment.
