The first meeting of the new Rotary year is known as handover. This is when the new president and officials formally adopt their roles for the next twelve months. Last week President Nigel Collins handed over the chains of office to David Brailsford, a long standing member of the club and also a past president from 2005-06. David is well known locally from his work managing Sutton Springs, helping with the Sutton Carnival and in recent years – performing a very important, and secretive, role during the festive period.
Before Nigel stood down he presented several awards and thank you gifts. Amongst them John Carter received the Presidents Plate in recognition of his efforts running Kids Out for the last 12 years, a role he has now retired from. John Conyers received a bottle of wine in recognition of his role producing the clubs publicity material. Dianne and Karl Skaife each received Rotary’s most prestigious award, the Paul Harris, for their exceptional efforts in the clubs events and fund raising activities.
Below are a few pictures from the fun and memorable evening.
