Each year every Rotary Club holds a Charter Night which is, in effect, a birthday celebration of the clubs formation.
Clubs around the world celebrate in different ways but for the Rotary Club of Alford and Mablethorpe this is a chance to dress up and enjoy food and fellowship with our guests and representatives from other Rotary Clubs.
Our annual Club Charter was held on Friday night at The Bacchus Hotel. We couldn’t begin without a tribute, and minutes silence, for our long serving club secretary Tony O’Brien who sadly passed away days earlier. Tony will be missed by all as a friend, an excellent Club Secretary, and the club quiz team’s secret weapon.
Whilst remembering Tony and other members of the club that couldn’t attend for various reasons we enjoyed a successful and fun event which ran very smoothly for which we thank the organisers and the staff at The Bacchus.
Thank you to all our guests and speakers particularly District Governor Elect for district 1070, John Dehnel, who will be our next DG and gave us an idea what to expect as our club joins district 1070.
