The club was recently joined by Stephen Teesdale, one of Alford’s retained firefighters who recently took part in a fundraising motorcycle ride from Alford, Lincolnshire to Alford, Aberdeenshire.
The ride had often been talked about, but the death of firefighter Barry Martin in Edinburgh inspired the group to complete the ride in his memory, and in the memory of all firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The proceeds will be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity.
The route, completed over two days, was 965 miles taking in 38 fire stations and 8 sites, marked by plaques, where firefighters have lost their lives. 8 bikes took part ridden by serving or retired firefighters.
The club was pleased to contribute to the event which surpassed its target of £3k raising over £10.5k making it the most successful fundraising event of its kind in Lincolnshire.
