As Rotary is a global organisation comprising over 33 thousand clubs there has to be a few layers of administration to keep everything running smoothly. The closest level to each club is it’s Rotary District, in our case known as District 1070. Each year a Rotarian in the district is elected to be the District Governor (DG) and one of his duties is to visit every club at least once during his year.
Tim Tucker will be our DG for the 18/19 Rotary year but he chose to pay us an early visit as he is not know to most of us since our clubs are at opposite edges of the district.
Tim first joined a Rotaract club as a teenager before progressing to Rotary. His enthusiasm for the fellowship and activities that take place at club level came shining through. Apparently someone once told Tim he would never be DG – never tell a Rotarian they can’t so something!
Visiting every club can be a daunting prospect, especially in such a large area but we are sure Tim will love every minute of it. The club looks forwards to meeting Tim again for his official visit in the new year.
