One benefit of being a Rotarian is that you are welcome to attend the meeting of any club you happen to be close to. The opportunity to hear from Rotarians from different areas always makes for an interesting meeting, and last week we enjoyed the company of Clive Walmsley from The Rotary Club of Aurora Gungahlin in Australia.
We are always keen to hear what other Rotary Clubs are achieving, and Clive had some great projects to discuss:
- Raising the money for powered wheelchairs for Canberra United’s Powerchair football team
- Working with other clubs to supply a police youth initiative with a new catering van that provides training for disadvantaged youth and meals for the homeless
- Providing defibrillators for each of the 14 trains on Canberra’s new Light Rail Network
- Assisting the local show ground with traffic management etc and engaging with relevant events
